Protocol of Attribution

Conditions of Private Consideration

The Protocol of Attribution records how a position may enter consideration and, where confirmed, be formally inscribed within the Geneva Register.

Access proceeds through existing correspondence, a Guardian reference, a recognised introduction or direct invitation. The protocol does not constitute a public application process.

Protocol of Attribution within the Geneva Register

Recognised paths of consideration

I

Existing Correspondence

An established correspondence or prior custodial relation with the Maison.

II

Guardian Reference

A reference made by a Guardian already recorded within the continuity of the Maison.

III

Recognised Introduction

An introduction received through a recognised individual, family, house or institution.

IV

Invitation

A direct invitation issued by the Maison in relation to a composition, chamber or sequence.

No public application or automatic path of entry is maintained. Correspondence, introduction or prior ownership creates no entitlement to attribution.

Issuance and Register entry

Issuance

Custodianship of a composition

A composition may be attributed within a defined chamber, corpus or sequence. Its attribution establishes the recorded custodianship of that work.

Register Entry

A separate formal relation

Holding a Maison-issued composition does not confer a seat within the Geneva Register. Register entry requires separate consideration, confirmation and formal inscription.

Basis of custodial alignment

I · Relevance

Composition

The relationship between the composition, its cultural field and the identity or history of the prospective custodian.

II · Continuity

Custodial Horizon

The intention to preserve meaning, documentation and custodial continuity beyond immediate possession.

III · Discretion

Confirmation

Attribution remains subject to the discretion of the Maison and becomes effective only upon formal confirmation.

Preliminary Review

First Attribution Review

Where a prospective Guardian has not previously held an attribution, the Office may complete an identity, capacity and compliance review before opening an individual Guardian file.

Completion of a review does not create entitlement to attribution.

Formal sequence of attribution

01

Consideration

A recognised basis for private consideration is established.

02

Review and Alignment

Where applicable, a first attribution review is completed before the proposed custodial relation is considered by the Maison.

03

Confirmation

Attribution is formally confirmed for the relevant position.

04

Record

The position and its custodian are entered within the relevant register or issuance record.

Continuity

Transmission across generations

Where attribution is confirmed, a durable relation is established between the custodian, the recorded position and the future transmission attached to it.

Certified extracts, confirmations and succession references may be issued to the recorded Guardian, an authorised family representative or a recognised successor.
