Private Correspondence
Private correspondence is maintained with Guardians, recognised introductions, institutions and individuals already received within the Maison’s correspondence circle.
New correspondence may be considered according to context, introduction and relevance. Receipt of correspondence does not imply access to an issuance or consideration for attribution.
Basis of private correspondence
Context
The reason for correspondence and its relationship to the work, registers or custodial continuity of the Maison.
Introduction
An existing relation, Guardian reference, recognised introduction or institutional basis for correspondence.
Relevance
The relevance of the matter to an existing record, present issuance, Guardian relation or recognised institutional purpose.
Correspondence does not confer access
The receipt or acknowledgement of correspondence does not open a Guardian file, reserve a position or create entitlement to an attribution. Any further consideration remains separate and subject to the Protocol of Attribution.
Address Correspondence
Correspondence should identify its context and, where applicable, the existing relation, reference or introduction through which it is addressed.
