The Correspondence Circle
The Correspondence Circle forms part of the private structure through which the Maison maintains its long-standing international relationships.
Following the sealing of the Foundational Register, access to new issuances, Cultural Chambers and private presentations is considered through this structure according to relevance, geography and established correspondence.
The sections below set out the current system. Correspondents may update their record at the end of the page so that future invitations and issuances may be considered accordingly.
The Correspondence Circle
It brings together individuals, families and institutions with whom Atelier WOCS has established correspondence through direct relationship, recognised introduction, institutional proximity or sustained engagement with its work.
Following the sealing of the Foundational Register, the circulation of the Maison became organised around recorded Guardianship, Private Correspondence, recognised introductions, Cultural Chambers and selected institutional relationships.
Compositions are no longer maintained in general public access. The Maison has nevertheless continued to issue new compositions, constitute Cultural Chambers and record new Guardians within the Geneva Register.
The Correspondence Circle remains one of the principal spheres through which the Maison determines when a particular work, territory or Chamber may warrant direct correspondence.
New Issuances
New compositions are issued through private sequences.
Each composition follows a defined and limited issuance structure, ranging from a unique piece to a maximum lifetime issuance of thirty.
Within Private Correspondence, each issuance is considered according to the nature of the work, the territory concerned, the fields associated with the correspondent and the particular context in which the composition is being presented.
Certain sequences are reserved to Foundational Guardians. Others may be addressed through Private Correspondence, Cultural Chambers, recognised introductions or institutional relationships.
A composition may therefore be presented directly where its subject, history or geography carries particular resonance with an existing correspondent.
Cultural Chambers
Cultural Chambers form part of the global architecture through which the Maison now presents selected bodies of work.
Each Chamber is constituted around a particular geography, group of compositions or field of resonance and ordinarily gathers a private circle of approximately fifteen to twenty people.
Its composition is determined individually.
A Chamber may bring together Foundational Guardians, Guardians of the Geneva Register, members of the Correspondence Circle and selected guests introduced for the particular occasion.
The works presented, the character of the place and the resonance between those assembled are considered together when each Chamber is constituted.
Private Correspondence allows the Maison to recognise when a particular Chamber may hold genuine relevance for an existing correspondent.
The Geneva Register
The Geneva Register is limited to two hundred positions and governs the entry of new Guardians into the registered circle of the Maison.
Individuals maintained within Private Correspondence may, where appropriate, be considered by the Maison for a position within the Geneva Register.
Consideration for the Register remains distinct from attendance at a Cultural Chamber or access to a particular issuance.
As the Maison continues to issue new compositions, constitute Cultural Chambers and extend its presence across selected territories, the correspondence attached to each individual assumes greater importance.
The Secretariat is therefore updating the records of the Correspondence Circle in order to retain a more precise understanding of the territories, subjects, fields and circumstances relevant to each correspondent.
These indications allow the Maison to recognise when a future Chamber, private presentation, ceremony or issuance carries sufficient relevance to warrant direct correspondence.
Updating this record preserves the continuity of an established relationship with the Maison and allows future consideration to be made with greater precision.
The indications provided will be retained by the Secretariat within your existing correspondence record and considered in relation to future Cultural Chambers, private presentations and issuances where particular relevance is established.
